The Crawford County Veterans Service Commission provides transportation for veterans to Wade Park VA Medical Center.
If you are using our transportation service, you cannot collect travel pay from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Federal Government will consider this fraud and may prosecute.
On occasion, the VA will contract services to private physicians. If needed, our office can provide transportation. Each veteran in need of a companion to travel to the appointment is allowed to do so provided it is medically necessary with written notice from the VA clinic or doctor.
Call us at 419-562-7761 to schedule your transportation. Please call us as soon as you know you have an appointment scheduled.
The purpose of financial assistance is to provide temporary financial aid to those who make a conscientious effort to find a permanent solution to their financial problems. Assistance will only be given to those who have a legitimate emergency or hardship as determined by the Veterans Service Commission, and meet the eligibility requirements established by the Ohio Revised Code. It is our intention to assist veterans and their dependents on a short term basis until a permanent solution to their difficulties can be arranged.
Section 5901.08 of the Ohio Revised Code establishes eligibility for financial assistance from county veteran service commissions. To qualify for assistance, an applicant must demonstrate financial need and unexpected hardship. Additionally, the applicant must be a veteran, an active duty member of the Armed Forces of the United States, or the spouse, surviving spouse (widow/widower), dependent parent, minor child, or ward of a veteran or active duty member of the Armed Forces of the U.S.
Applicants must have been a resident of Crawford County for at least three (3) months prior to the date of application.
Please contact our office to schedule an appointment and to discuss the documentation needed to apply.
